Kimono Aquamarine

Inspired by a more opulent luxury, this piece has a bolder feel to it with its jungle jewel tones.

The satin cotton lining was a true coup de coeur  as we say in French. Created by British graphic designer Emma Shipley, it’s a gateway to her fabulous universe of fantastic animals and lush jungle vibes. She is not only a talented designer but also gives back to the nature that inspires her. Part of her brand’s benefits proceed to the World Land Trust foundation for the safekeeping and restoration of endangered species’s natural habitat.

The body is made of hand weaved organic cotton in aquamarine and white stripes with violet designs. Crafted by our talented artisans in Mexico on the traditional backstrap loom.

Silk ikat sleeves handmade by our partner families in Uzbekistan in a jewel teal green hue add a touch of softness and light.

Our jackets are lightly padded which makes them perfect for the first chilly autumn days, the silk lining gives them an extra comfy feel. The vest is approximately 76cm long by 60 cm wide and fits comfortably sizes XS - L.

At Maison Mitla we believe in giving a voice and a face to the fabulous women artisans we work with as well as all the humans involved in our creative process. We want to offer a more conscious and calm approach to fashion, taking our time to source the right natural materials and making sure our artisans earn a living wage. Producing less but better in order to bring you sustainable luxury filled with love. 

Please note that all our garments are entirely handmade and the textiles are handweaved using traditional techniques. No machine, except a classic sewing machine, is involved in the process. This is why some irregularities may sometimes be present such as tiny apparent threads or a slight difference in length & width.
